Experience: Hi! I'm an experienced nanny with the first children I cared for having graduated college in 2021- a set of twin boys. I worked with that family for five years and then went on to be a nanny for many other families, including twins and triplets. I have extensive experience with infants and multiples as well as toddlers and preschool age children. I have worked with siblings and nanny share situations, so am well versed in care of different ages and multiple children at a time. I have experience with children and adults with developmental disabilities and have helped carry through physical, occupational, and speech therapy. I have utilized my knowledge of ASL with children of all developmental stages. I am a mother to three girls that are all school-aged. In the last 15+ years I have been a birth and postpartum doula as well as completed my midwifery training. I am certified in infant and adult CPR. I am comfortable helping around the house as needed, and have experience in running errands, meal prep, pet care, house care, and driving. I am familiar with different gentle/attachment parenting approaches as well as Waldorf and Montessori philosophies. I have experience in cloth diapering, baby wearing, and potty training. I have a flexible schedule and am experienced with overnight care, house and pet sitting and plant care.

Experience with the following age groups: Infant through school age.

Interests and hobbies:I love to read, garden, spend time in nature, camping, and travelling. I enjoy cooking and baking and experiencing new things. I love to explore the world- around me in my own yard, to local "stay-cations" and going abroad. I love animals and have had goats, chickens, cats, dogs, and chinchillas.

Describe your childcare style:I believe that children learn through play and exploration and I enjoy providing opportunities for the children to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and the world we live in. Using my experience with various personalities, ages and family preferences, it’s important to guide and engage children based on their interests and abilities.I aim to consider the culture of the family and am respectful of the views and beliefs of the parents and try to understand their approach to guide my work in the family. Knowing the family’s needs will help me bring harmony to the family, remove stress from parents, and insert appropriate activities to improve each child’s routine. I am happy to assist with any household tasks such as laundry, dishes, meal prep, house organization/upkeep, grocery shopping, running errands, pet care etc. I am easy-going, am genuinely interested in other people and am fascinated by the world and the way people move through it and want to share that with the children I attend to. I want them to feel safe and protected while encouraged to have fun, try new things and discover the world for themselves.

What activities do you like to do with children:Children are remarkable and designed to explore their environment and I love to facilitate their natural curiosity with activities that encourage each stage of development. To develop gross motor skills with an infant, I like to incorporate early development activities such as tummy time (to develop neck and back muscles), and moving on, activities that encourage crawling and, with assistance, standing up. I have preschoolers use safety scissors along with other arts and crafts, practice buttoning and zipping, or trace letters and numbers. I encourage exploration of the environments surrounding us (in our home and moving outward) and finding correlation within the world. Reading at all ages and stages is very important and I find age/stage appropriate material to dive into. I am a huge proponent of getting children outdoors and will take the opportunity to go out in all weather dressed appropriately. Outings are a great way to incorporate hands-on learning, as children can practice all subject areas in markets, in the park, at the library, etc. (Covid considered). I look forward to planning fun activities designed to the specific interests of your child (soccer, dance, art, outer space, reading, exploring, etc.). I encourage independent play along with the activities introduced and am happy to stay away from tv and media.

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I have been working with children and families in some capacity for most of my life and it's the thing I love to do. I love meeting new children and helping each family feel the best they can with the person caring for their children. I am fascinated time and again at watching children grow and learn and think it is the best way to spend a day.

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?I value communication, patience, compassion, understanding and celebration of differences, creativity, organization, commitment, and kindness. I want to create and support an environment of curiosity for the children while providing a container to keep them safe. I strive to listen to the needs of each individual and respect those needs.

Additional comments:I look forward to meeting you.
