Experience: I have worked as a full-time nanny for the past 14 years. In this time, I've worked with about a handful of families as I value staying with families long term. I have cared for infants (including premature), toddlers, preschool and school-aged children, including multiples. I have experience with special needs children including kids with ADHD and anxiety and sensory processing issues. I have worked with various therapists (speech, physical, occupational) for the children in my care and assisted in implementing strategies with which to help the child reach their full potential. I have experience creating routines and sleep schedules which I believe are crucial for the happiness of the child(ren) and the family as a whole. I have attended classes with children in my care and handled pick up/drop offs to appointments/school/activities.

Experience with the following age groups: Infant through School Age.

Interests and hobbies:I enjoy reading, crafting, interior design, hiking, kayaking, swimming, travel, and time spent in nature. I love everything hygge and enjoy creating warm and cozy spaces. I enjoy organization and minimalism. And most importantly I value time spent with family and friends and creating genuine connections with others.

Describe your childcare style:I am a warm, empathetic, and intuitive care giver. I believe that when a child feels truly seen and heard, it lays the foundation for confidence, self-esteem, and healthy boundary setting. Therefore, I actively listen and engage with each child to ensure that they feel that genuine connection. As someone who is quite intuitive, I am able to fairly quickly pick up on a child strengths and struggles. I can then take that information and cater my care-giving style towards that which would be most beneficial to that particular child. In general, I am silly and have a great sense of humor (a necessity when working with children). I value routine as I believe we all, not just children, benefit greatly from a well set out routine. I believe in setting loving boundaries. I believe modeling healthy boundary setting can encourage children to set their own healthy boundaries which is incredibly important in my view. I enjoy getting out into the world and exploring parks, nature centers, libraries, etc. Time spent outside is always a good thing. I value collaboration and communication with parents to ensure that we are consistently on the same page and working together to make the child's experience the best it can be.

What activities do you like to do with children:Infants/babies- sensory play like tummy time, bathing/time spent in or around water, singing are great for baby. I love having "conversations" with infants. It helps develop communication and language skills and helps build connection. And getting those first "oooo"s in response is amazing! Reading and exploring our environment whether inside or out. Spending time outside when appropriate is a great way to introduce baby to the world. Toddlers- sensory play like finger painting, water play, and baking. Imaginative play like building forts, dancing, singing, dress-up, creating silly skits, and crafts. Exploring parks, nature centers, and libraries. Helping to build friendships with other children through spending time outside within the neighborhood as well as at parks/story time is great for helping children learn social skills like sharing and boundaries. Preschool- cooking and baking for the family is a great activity. It is fun and it builds confidence as well. AND, we get to make a mess! Spending time within the community exploring recreational activities like the park, nature centers, libraries, etc is great for social skills and building friendships. Any kind of crafting is always a huge hit!

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I absolutely love building connections with the children in my care (parents too!) Being a nanny is somewhat unique in that you get to become a part of a family and I really enjoy that aspect. Becoming a part of a child's growth and development is a huge gift. And I value being a part of a child's life long-term. I am able to use my skills in creativity, problem solving, and organization everyday and have fun while doing it!

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?I believe a great nanny requires patience, problem-solving skills, good judgment, a loving heart, warmth, empathy, intuition, excellent communication skills, a great imagination, an open mind, the ability to think outside the box and roll with the punches, and a great sense of humor while keeping the child's safety as the number one priority.
