I am a huge fan of Janet Lansbury, an early childhood educator, her books and podcasts have made me a better nanny. Wilderness First Aid Certified Nurse Aid (CNA). I participated in Pyramid Plus- Social emotional workshops for 0-5 years in 2017.
Experience: I have experience working with ages 0-6years. I am knowledgeable and supportive with children who might have learning disabilities or social anxieties. I have experience in doing the following for families: Laundry, meal preparation for family and cooking for the children, errands etc. I engaged in age appropriate play and can provide a written record of each child’s daily actives, sanitize bottles and toys and change diapers. I have restocked baby items ( diapers, wipes, clothes etc.) for families and have knowledge and experience in handling food allergies and sensitives. I have worked at a preschool, with multiples, and have extensive experience with Infants and Toddlers. Experience with the following age groups: Infant through school age. Interests and hobbies:When I am not fingerpainting or pretending to be a dinosaur or playing fairies with a child, you can find me hiking or spending time with family and friends. I also enjoy cooking, reading or listening to a book, or listening to music. I am a runner and I enjoy a good run daily. Describe your childcare style:Working with children is a joy for me and I love watching children discover the world. Open communication with the families I work with is very important to me. I encourage independent play when appropriate. I enjoy creating activities for young children, for example, art projects, mini science experiments, cooking, cleaning, playing outside with chalk or at the park. I also enjoy small gardening projects with young children. I encourage imagination and pretend play. I am all for shapeshifting and pretending to be a restaurant owner or an airplane pilot. I value being open minded and flexible. I very much enjoy cooking healthy meals and reading books at nap time or anytime really. I let the child lead and I encourage independence. I allow space for emotions to happen and acknowledge them. I provide comfort when needed or distraction when needed. I truly enjoy working with young children. Other activities include singing, playing outside, story time, reading books, quiet indoor play and fun outdoor play such as running through a sprinkler or building a small snowman.
